The SL series WatchPro display units are designed
to display production performance information to line managers and the shop
floor workforce in medium sized manufacturing areas. They are typically
mounted onto a production machine and monitor the status and performance of
the machine.
The display unit is provided in a single sided
format and six M5 fixing holes are provided on the rear plate of the unit
for mounting directly to a machine. When so mounted, viewing distances of 10
metres are easily achievable using 13mm high red LED display elements for
the top line Status display and 25mm high red 7 segment LED display elements
for the Total Production, Machine Efficiency, and Rejects counts.
The display unit has opto-isolated inputs which are
used to connect to sensors on the production machine which provide the total
production count and rejects count inputs to the unit. The total production
count is displayed on the TOTAL
PRODUCTION line of the unit and the
rejects count is displayed on the REJECTS
line of the unit. Values in the range of 0 to 99999 can be displayed on
these lines.
The machine efficiency is computed internally by
the unit and displayed on the MACHINE
EFFICIENCY line. This is computed by
comparing the number of units which should have been produced at the current
time in the shift with the number of items which have actually been produced
and deriving a percentage efficiency from these two values. A value in the
range of 0.0% to 100.0% will be displayed on this line.
The top line of the display is a 16 character
starburst LED display which is used for showing the running model number or
machine downtime display if the machine is not currently running. The
run/stop status of the machine is input to the unit using one of the opto-isolated
inputs.
The display unit is controlled by a microprocessor
and the firmware of the microprocessor can be modified to suit any special
requirements asked for by a customer.
The Status, Total Production, Machine Efficiency,
and Rejects lettering on the front panel of the unit can be easily modified
to suit a customer’s requirements.
A barcode interface can be provided for entering
model numbers using barcodes or a keypad interface can be provided for entry
of model numbers from an alphanumeric keypad.
