WatchPro Overview

WatchPro is a production monitoring system for use in manufacturing environments.  At the heart of the system are the WatchPro display units which show the ACTUAL, TARGET and VARIANCE figures of the current production, and these are mounted in the production area so that shop floor personnel can see at a glance how production is faring on a particular production line.

The WatchPro display units are large display panels using Light Emitting Diode display elements to show the production figures and there is usually one display unit mounted at the end of a production line which shows the current production figures for that line. The top line of the display unit is used to show the current model number being produced or it can be programmed to display a moving message.

The display units are connected to an Ethernet network so that an operator can program the units with the shift start and stop times and shift target from a network computer. The network computers can also be used to give an overview of production using the Factory Watch screen of the WatchPro software which shows the production figures on each production line.

ACTUAL

The ACTUAL line of the display shows the number of units which have been produced during the current shift. This count is automatically zeroed at the start of the shift and is incremented each time the production line sensor indicates that a unit has been produced.

TARGET

The moving target shown on the TARGET line of the display gives the total number of units which should have been produced at the current point in the shift. It is calculated using the following formula:

Moving Target = Elapsed Shift Time x Total Shift Target
                    Total Shift Time

Where 'Elapsed Shift Time' is the number of seconds elapsed in the shift. 'Total Shift Target' is the total expected production for the shift. 'Total Shift Time' is the number of seconds programmed for the shift taking into account any break times which may have been programmed into the shift.

VARIANCE

The VARIANCE line on the display unit shows the TARGET value subtracted from the ACTUAL value. The VARIANCE value will be positive if production is ahead of target and will be negative if production is behind target.

Customer Options
The display unit is microprocessor controlled and the programming can be modified to suit individual customer requirements.

The Actual, Target, and Variance lettering on the front panel can be easily modified for different applications.

A barcode interface or serial keyboard can be provided for entering model numbers which are shown on the top line of the display unit.
